Allegrow Studio · for music teachers

Know what really happened between lessons.

Allegrow times practice privately on each student’s own device and counts only real playing – so the minutes you see are minutes they played, not minutes someone wrote down. Walk into every lesson knowing who practiced, what they worked on and where they need you.

Real practice, not logsHand-logged time is markedTimed on the device, never recorded

Free for up to 3 students. Beta partners get unlimited students, free during the beta. No card needed.

Sound familiar?

You see each student for half an hour a week. Everything that decides how they progress happens in the other 167 hours.

“Did you practice?”
“Yes!”

Practice logs are filled in the night before the lesson – if at all. You can hear the truth in the first minute, but by then the lesson has started.

“What were we working on?”

The first ten minutes go on catching up: which piece, which tempo, what happened this week. That’s a third of a lesson.

By Wednesday, it’s fading.

Motivation is highest right after the lesson. Without a nudge during the week, practice drifts – and you only find out six days later.

Switching from another app?

Practice that’s counted, not logged – with a whole studio around it.

Most practice apps ask students to log their own time. Allegrow times real playing on the student’s own device – no claims, no recordings. Around it you get assignments with your own recordings and files, theory games with levels, lessons and a calendar feed, badges, reports and a simple billing ledger.

Paste your student list from a spreadsheet and send every family their link in one go.
Free for families, no accounts for children.
Free while we’re in beta.

Up and running in an afternoon

No hardware, no installs, nothing for families to buy.

Add your students

Paste your list straight from a spreadsheet – names, instruments, lesson times, practice plans – or add them one by one.

Send each family a link

Copy all the invite links at once or email them. A parent opens it, agrees to share, and their child is connected.

Practice shows up by itself

Your students practice with the free Allegrow app. It counts only real playing, privately on their device, and their week appears in your studio.

Everything for your studio, in one place

Made for independent music teachers – and the families they teach.

Practice you can trust

Minutes and days for every student, against their plan. The app times only music – talking and quiet don’t count, and time logged by hand is marked.

Who needs you, today

A short “needs attention” list: who hasn’t practiced, overdue assignments, new requests – so a quick message goes out midweek, not an awkward talk at the lesson.

Assignments & recordings

Pieces, scales and tempos on their practice screen, metronome ready – with your demo recording, a photo of the page, a PDF or a video link. Students tick them off or record one for you (once a parent allows it), and you reply.

Music theory, with levels

Notes in any clef, rhythm, symbols, keys, intervals, chords and ear games, in the order teachers already use. Start each student at their level, or give them a placement check – and build your own sets.

Booking & makeups

A booking page for trial lessons and sign-ups, with your policies. Families cancel by your cutoff, earn makeup credits and request a makeup – you approve each one.

Know who’s paid

A running balance from your schedule, per lesson, month or semester, with packages, late fees and automatic reminders. A ledger, not a payment system.

Your families will love it too

The Allegrow app is free for families, made for kids, and built to make practice something they want to come back to.

Tap your name and play. No accounts or passwords for children.
Badges and streaks that reward consistency – and planned rest days never break a streak.
A metronome built to be heard over a real instrument, with tempo markings and a flash on the beat.
Music theory games – note flash cards, rhythm, and playing notes back by ear – that level up as they learn.
Your assignments, lesson times and stars right on their practice screen.
Parents stay in charge of settings behind a PIN, and can get a weekly family summary by email.

Private by design

The practice timer analyzes sound on the device and never records it.
Recordings for you are off until a parent turns them on, and only sent when the student presses Send.
A parent agrees before a child is connected to you, and can disconnect any time – you’ll see if they do.
No accounts for children. No ads, no tracking, no selling data.

Teachers ask

What is Allegrow Studio?

Allegrow Studio is software for private music teachers and music schools. It shows how much each student really practiced – the free Allegrow app times practice automatically and privately on the student’s device – and keeps the rest of the studio in one place: assignments with your own recordings and files, lessons and a live calendar, cancellations, makeups and a booking page, billing reminders, music theory games, recitals with a running order, repertoire, and progress reports. It’s free for up to 3 students.

Do my families have to pay or sign up for anything?

No. The family app is free, runs in any modern browser, and children don’t need accounts. A parent just opens your invite link and agrees to share.

My student isn’t a beginner. Do they have to start theory at level 1?

No. On their Theory tab, choose Set levels and pick a starting point (Just starting, Early elementary, Elementary, Late elementary, Intermediate or Advanced – each with a rough RCM and ABRSM grade), then adjust any game. Not sure? Ask for a placement check: the student gets a short flash-card check on their theory screen, one game at a time, getting harder until they miss twice at a level. It sets each game to the level where they have something new to learn, and you see the results on their Theory tab. It usually takes 15–30 cards and leaves out Echo, which uses the microphone. New students from your booking page start from the experience their family chose, with a placement check to fine-tune it.

Can I attach a recording or sheet music to an assignment?

Yes. When you set an assignment you can record a demo right there in the lesson (up to 90 seconds), add a photo of the page or a small PDF, or add a link – a YouTube video, a backing track, a larger PDF on Google Drive. The student opens them from the assignment on their practice screen, and the assignment can be printed as a weekly practice sheet.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, any time. Studio settings → Download all your data gives you a .zip of spreadsheets: students, lessons, practice by day (up to 3 years), assignments, repertoire, events and the billing ledger. They open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

What if a student doesn’t use the app?

You can still manage their lessons, assignments, notes, performances and reports in your studio. Families can also log practice by hand, and it’s shown as “logged by hand” so you know. For a family that prefers paper, send the week’s assignments as a one-page PDF practice sheet by email, or print it.

I’m moving from another app or a spreadsheet. Can I bring my studio over?

Yes. Export your student list from your current app as a CSV file and upload it – Allegrow reads the usual columns (first and last name, instrument, lesson day and time, parent email) without rearranging. Lessons and assignments can be imported the same way, by pasting rows from a spreadsheet or uploading a CSV.

How does it know they’re really practicing?

Allegrow uses the device’s microphone the way a tuner does: a small sound-recognition model runs on the device itself and tells playing from talking or silence. Only the minutes and simple scores are kept – sound is never recorded or sent. Recordings for you happen only if a parent turns them on and the student presses Record.

Can Allegrow handle billing?

It keeps a simple ledger: set a price per lesson or per hour, and each student’s balance builds from the lessons on your schedule (canceled and moved lessons don’t count; no-shows are your choice). Record, edit or delete payments, add charges like recital fees or automatic late fees, send families automatic payment reminders, copy or email a statement with your payment link, and export everything as a CSV for your spreadsheet or accounting software. Families can keep paying you the way they always have, or you can let them pay by card from their app: you connect your own Stripe account, the money goes straight to your bank, and each payment is recorded for you. Stripe takes its usual card fee; Allegrow takes nothing.

How is Allegrow different from other practice apps?

Most practice apps rely on a student or parent to log the time. Allegrow counts only real playing – timed privately on the student’s device – so the minutes are trustworthy, and time logged by hand is marked. Around that it’s a full studio – lessons and calendar, assignments, theory games, performances, reports and billing – and the family app is free with no accounts for children.

I teach young beginners. Won’t scores discourage them?

You decide. Tuning, focus and rhythm scores can be shown as numbers, as gentle trends, or turned off – for your whole studio or just one student. Parents can also turn tuning off for their child. Badges, stars and confetti can be switched off too – for your studio or one student – for a calm, plain practice screen.

Which instruments does it work with?

Any instrument, including voice. Tuning scores are only used where the player shapes every note (strings, voice, winds and brass) – never for piano, guitar, ukulele or drums.

Do you support music schools with several teachers?

Yes. Start a music school from Studio settings and invite as many teachers as you need. Each teacher runs their own studio; you see the whole school rolled up by teacher (students, practice, lessons, billing), open any teacher’s studio, plan school recitals with students from several teachers, send teachers tasks, and choose per teacher whether the school or the teacher handles billing. If a teacher leaves, their students stay with the school.

What happens after the beta?

Allegrow Studio stays free for up to 3 students. Beyond that, it’s $9 a month for up to 25 students (add 25 more students for $3 a month), and a music school is $29 a month for up to 150 students, with any number of teachers. Larger schools and programs can ask us about enterprise pricing. Free beta access ends when paid plans start – we’ll give plenty of notice first. The family app stays free.

How do I pay, and can I cancel?

Paid plans are month to month, paid by card through Stripe, a secure payment company – Allegrow never sees or stores your card number, and Stripe emails you a receipt each month. Change your plan or cancel anytime from your studio (Studio settings → Change plan or Manage billing). If you cancel, your plan lasts until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and if you ever go back to the Free plan, nothing is deleted – you keep all your students and records.

Spend your lessons teaching.

Set up your studio this afternoon and see your first students’ practice this week.
