We’ve kept these short and plain. They cover the family app and Allegrow Studio, and by using either one you agree to them. If anything is unclear, ask us.
1. Plans and pricing
The family app is free, and always will be. Families never pay to practice with Allegrow.

Prices are in US dollars. You’re never charged unless you choose a paid plan yourself. If we ever change a price, we’ll tell you before it applies to you.
Paying for a plan
Monthly, by card (music schools can also pay a year in advance for 10% off). Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go straight to Stripe – Allegrow never sees or stores your card number. Stripe emails you a receipt each month.
Change or cancel anytime in Studio settings (Change plan, Manage billing). A move to a bigger or smaller plan applies right away, and Stripe adjusts your next bill for the rest of the month. When you cancel, your plan stays until the end of the month you’ve paid for; we don’t refund partly used months unless the law requires it.
Lesson payments from families. If you turn on card payments for your families, those payments are between you and the family: they’re made to your own Stripe account under Stripe’s terms, Stripe charges you its card fee, and refunds or disputes are yours to handle in your Stripe account. Allegrow takes no part of them and only records the amount for you.
If a payment doesn’t go through, we tell you right away (by email and in your studio) and you have 7 days to update your card while Stripe keeps trying. After 7 days, students beyond the Free plan’s 3 are paused until the payment goes through – then they reconnect automatically. If it still can’t be paid, your studio moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted – you keep all your students and records – but you can’t add students beyond the Free plan’s limit until you choose a plan again.
Special pricing we agree with you (for example a founding-teacher price) is shown in your studio and applies as described there.
2. The beta
Allegrow is in beta: it works, and we’re still improving it. During the beta, Allegrow Studio is free for up to 3 students, and studios with a beta code (“beta partners”) can have any number of students, free. This free access lasts only while the beta does: when paid plans start, beta partners choose a plan – or stay on the Free plan – and we’ll give reasonable notice first. Features may change, and something may occasionally not work as expected – when it doesn’t, please tell us. It helps us make Allegrow better for everyone.
3. Families
A parent or guardian sets up the family app and is responsible for a child’s use of it.
Connecting a child to a teacher shares the child’s practice information with that teacher, as described in the privacy policy. Only connect to a teacher you know.
Keep your sign-in, parent PIN and invite links private.
Cancellations, makeups and payments are between you and your teacher, under their studio policies. Allegrow shows those policies and keeps the record, but doesn’t set them.
4. Teachers
You’re responsible for the student information you enter, and you confirm each family has agreed to your use of their child’s name, lesson details and any photo you add.
Send invites only to the student’s family, and use lesson notes, ratings, recordings and messages for teaching.
Your prices, studio policies and booking page are yours to set, and your agreements with families are between you and them.
Allegrow keeps a billing record and can email reminders for you, but it doesn’t take or process payments. Make sure the amounts, due dates and payment details you enter are correct.
Only add email addresses that families have given you for studio messages.
If you teach for a school, make sure its rules allow you to use Allegrow. If you join a music school on Allegrow, its administrator can see your studio (except your private notes).
5. Acceptable use
Please don’t use Allegrow to harass anyone, to collect information about children beyond what teaching needs, to try to get into other people’s information, or to interfere with the service.
6. Your content
Practice data, lesson notes, assignments, recordings and everything else you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them only so Allegrow can work for you and the people you choose to share with.
7. Practice and theory scores
Focus, tuning and rhythm scores, theory levels and badges are worked out automatically. They’re there to encourage and guide – not to grade or judge a child’s musical ability.
8. No warranty
Allegrow is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep it running and your information safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, free of errors or right for every purpose.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Allegrow and the people who run it aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of Allegrow.
10. Stopping
You can stop using Allegrow at any time and delete your information as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Allegrow grows, and we’ll let you know in the app about important changes. Questions or ideas? Use the contact form.
