Practice that grows.

Allegrow times real practice right on your child’s or teen’s own device – music counts, chatting and quiet time don’t, and nothing is recorded. Badges and streaks keep them coming back, and you can see how practice is really going, even if you don’t read a note of music.

Works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to download – add it to your home screen if you like.

Practice they’ll actually want to do

Everything a young musician – 6 or 16 – needs to build a practice habit. No ads, and no accounts to set up.

A timer that counts real practice

Tap your name and play. The clock runs while they play and pauses when they stop or start chatting – timed privately on the device, so every minute counts for real.

Badges & streaks

Streaks, goals, “Deep focus”, “Sweet spot” and more – with the next badge always in sight. Planned rest days never break a streak.

Tools that help

A metronome loud enough to hear over the instrument, a tuner, and music theory games that level up as they learn.

For parents – no music background needed

You don’t have to read music to know how practice is going, or to help your child keep at it.

See how practice is really going

Minutes and days practiced, streaks and the week’s goal – at a glance. No more “did you practice?” standoffs, and no practice log to sign.

Know exactly what to practice

The teacher’s assignments show up on the practice screen – with the tempo, a demo recording or the page. Print a weekly practice sheet for the fridge or the music stand.

A weekly note in your inbox

Turn on a short Sunday summary of each child’s week – days and minutes practiced, badges and stars from the teacher, what they’re working on and the next lesson – so you can cheer them on.

Lessons in one place

Upcoming lessons and performances, reminders, canceling a lesson or booking a makeup – and what’s due, if the teacher shares it.

The whole family

Everyone gets their own name to tap, on your phone, a tablet or the family computer. Siblings with different teachers work too.

You’re in charge

Parent settings open only for you: sign in the first time, then use a PIN on your own device if you like. You decide whether to connect a teacher, and recordings stay off unless you turn them on. No ads, no tracking, no selling data.

Does your music teacher use Allegrow?

Allegrow works on its own – and it’s even better with the teacher connected: their assignments show up on the practice screen, and they see how the week went before the lesson. It’s free for teachers to try. Send them a note:

Questions

What is Allegrow?

Allegrow is a music practice app for young musicians – kids and teens – and their music teachers. The free family app is a private practice timer that counts only real playing – not talking or silence – with badges, streaks, a metronome, a tuner and music theory games. Allegrow Studio is the teacher’s side: it shows each student’s real practice and adds assignments, lessons, booking, billing and reports. It runs in any modern browser, with nothing to install.

I’m not musical. Can I still help my child practice?

Yes – that’s who Allegrow is for. You don’t need to know what a scale is to see that your child practiced 20 minutes on four days this week, what their teacher asked them to work on, and which badge they’re close to. The app keeps track and the teacher sets the goals; your part is noticing, and cheering them on. A short weekly summary email is optional.

How does it know my child is practicing?

Allegrow uses the microphone the way a tuner does: a small sound-recognition model runs entirely on the phone or tablet and tells music from talking or quiet, moment by moment. Only the minutes and a few simple scores are kept – sound is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. Recordings for a teacher happen only if you turn them on and your child presses Record.

What does it cost?

For families, nothing – the family app is free and always will be, and families never pay Allegrow. Teachers use Allegrow Studio free for up to 3 students, and beta partners get unlimited students free during the beta. Paid plans for teachers are $9 a month for up to 25 students (add 25 more for $3 a month) and $29 a month for a music school with up to 150 students and any number of teachers; larger schools and programs can ask us about enterprise pricing. Paid plans are month to month, paid by card through Stripe, and can be changed or canceled anytime in the studio – Allegrow never sees card numbers. Free beta access ends when paid plans start, and we’ll give plenty of notice first.

Which devices does it work on?

Any recent phone, tablet or computer with a modern browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox). It can be added to the home screen and opened like an app.

Which instruments?

Any instrument – pick from the 12 most common or type your own – for timing and focus. Tuning scores are for instruments where the player shapes every note: violin, viola, cello, voice, flute, clarinet, saxophone and trumpet. The rhythm score works with the metronome for everyone. Teachers choose whether each score appears as a number, as a trend only, or not at all – for the whole studio or one student – and every score comes with a plain explanation of how it’s measured.

Is my child’s information safe?

We ask for as little as possible – there are no accounts or email addresses for children. Practice stays on your device unless you turn on sync between your own devices or connect your child to their teacher, which you choose to do. See the privacy policy.
